Hi there. My name is Penny and I am the owner of Penelope's Quilt Closet. My home on the web came about after many years of doing craft shows when I lived in Louiisana and Mississippi, and finally when I moved to New York. My passion for creating useful home accessories has grown over the years and I have dabbled in many art forms including floral design, fabric painting, knitting, crochet, sewing and finally quilting. In 1999 I decided to try my craft on the World Wide Web. I started a very simple website after many hours, weeks and months of frustration but I persisted and eventually purchased my domain and a new website

I find a lot of satisfaction when I can design a product that has a two-fold purpose or use. My draftstoppers can be used in summer to keep the heat out and the cool air in as well as blocking out cold drafts in winter. My table runners and tank toppers can be made for two different seasons or one holiday and one year round fabric to accent your decor. The runners can also be used on dressers or coffee tables. I like things that have multiple uses so that my customers get the most out of their hard earned money. People work hard for their money and I believe that they deserve to get the most that they can out of the money that they spend.

A couple of years ago I added another passion of mine to my website. It is totally unrelated to my home decor line of quilted products. I have a passion for hummingibrds and grow nearly all of my own hummingbird plants from seed. Many of the original seed came from Hummingbird gardeners all over North America. I now offer Hummingbird Plant Seeds from my own plants to others who are interested in developing their own hummingbird gardens.
